This painting captures a view I return to every time I visit Paris—standing on the Pont des Arts, looking toward Pont Neuf and the Île de la Cité. No matter how often I paint it, I never tire of this scene. But it’s at sunrise, especially in October, that it becomes truly magical. The light at that hour dances on the surface of the Seine, casting shimmering reflections off the water and the moored boats. The silhouettes of the bridge, historic buildings, and distant spires—Notre-Dame just peeking through—create a breathtaking contrast against the soft morning glow. It’s a view that feels timeless, always familiar, yet different every time.
