This painting started in en plein air in Vernazza. I found a shady spot on a very hot day, but half of my view was obscured by the cement railing. It became cloudy (and later it rained) while I was painting, so my initial light was gone and I had to work from memory and imagination, and I still didn’t know where the second bottom of my painting would go. The idea of the bottom half came to me in Portofino, while having lunch and watching these boats. And voilà! “Colors of Italy”, watercolor, 20x24 framed.
