Can you hear the engines?!

Seceral years ago my customer came to me and said: “Can you paint me a nice big “Afshar” oil so I can hear the engines roar?!” I knew almost nothing about the race, but I was up for a challenge and very intuitively came up with this vertical composition that has become my trademark. I have painted several versions of it over years …. and learned a LOT about the ART of racing, and have fallen in love with it.

Last year I was honored to be selected by the Indianapolis Arts Council and Motorspeedway to create an official "Welcome, Race Fans" piece—later featured as a decal on the Artsgarden in Indianapolis.

This was my newest addition to the Race Day Series that I painted to commemorate 109th running of Indianapolis 500 and the win of Álex Palou. Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, 24x36, it found its forever home.
